(September 7, 2023, 10:23 AM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) announced Sept. 6 that it is canceling oil and gas leases issued by the Trump administration in the Coastal Plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) and proposed new regulations for the National Petroleum Reserve-A (NPR-A) to protect 13 million acres of Special Areas in the reserve.
