Mealey's (May 1, 2023, 2:54 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — California and a state agency on April 28 filed a brief in the U.S. Supreme Court arguing that it should deny a petition filed by the American Petroleum Institute (API) and its affiliates on grounds that the trial court correctly ruled that they violated federal law and correctly interpreted the Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) when it held that permits for hydraulic fracturing off the coast of California were granted improperly (American Petroleum Institute, et al. v.
