New York Federal Judge: City, County Liable As Arrangers For Landfill Contamination

Mealey's (October 28, 2021, 1:08 PM EDT) -- ALBANY, N.Y. — In an action over liability for the disposal of hazardous waste from a manufacturing facility in two landfills, a New York federal judge ruled on Oct. 25 that the city of Syracuse and Onondaga County are responsible as arrangers under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.  The judge also held that the county agreed to indemnify the facility operators against certain claims....
