Mealey's (February 27, 2019, 5:06 PM EST) -- ORLANDO, Fla. — A Florida federal judge on Feb. 14 adopted a magistrate’s report that recommended granting an insurer’s motion to dismiss insureds’ claims for attorney fees and costs under Florida law in a flood coverage dispute, agreeing entirely with the magistrate’s finding that the insureds’ standard flood insurance policy (SFIP) preempts any entitlement to attorney fees and costs under state law (Ashley Simpson, et al. v. United Property & Casualty Insurance Company, No. 18-2010, M.D. Fla., 2019 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 23883)....
