Mealey's (December 10, 2019, 12:55 PM EST) -- LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved a $4 million settlement on Dec. 4 between the city and a woman who was seriously injured when her SUV fell 20 feet into a sinkhole that suddenly opened near an intersection, according to the plaintiff’s attorneys, who alleged that the sinkhole was caused by the city’s failure to maintain its sewer system (Stephanie Scott v.
