9th Circuit Affirms Kawaiisu Tribe Has No Ownership Interest In Land

Mealey's (June 24, 2015, 10:25 AM EDT) -- SAN FRANCISCO — A panel of the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on June 22 affirmed that the Kawaiisu Tribe of Tejon has no ownership interest in the Tejon Ranch and that no reservation has been established in the name of the tribe, which is a non-federally recognized Native American group (David Laughing Horse Robinson, et al. v. Sally Jewell, et al., No. 12-17151, 9th Cir.; 2015 U.S. App. LEXIS 10446).
