ACLU Seeks To Intervene In Microsoft’s Suit Over Government’s ‘Secrecy Orders’

Mealey's (May 31, 2016, 12:55 PM EDT) -- SEATTLE — The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) on May 26 moved to intervene as a plaintiff in Washington federal court in a suit between Microsoft Corp. and the U.S. Department of Justice over the constitutionality of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) and warrants served thereunder, with the ACLU asserting that it wishes “to protect [its] constitutional right to notice of any search and seizure of [its] property” (Microsoft Corp. v. The U.S. Department of Justice, et al., No. 2:16-cv-00538, W.D. Wash.).
