Mootness Of Native Hawaiian Constitution Challenge Debated In 9th Circuit

(May 20, 2016, 2:22 PM EDT) -- SAN FRANCISCO — A challenge to an election to establish a Native Hawaiian government is moot because the organizer of the election has been dissolved and will not hold the election, the organizer, the State of Hawaii and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) told the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals May 17 in supplemental briefing requested by the court (Keli’i Akina, et al., v. State of Hawaii, et al., No. 15-17134, 9th Cir.).
