Oregon County Votes To Ban Bottled Water Plants, Affecting Nestle’s Plans

(May 19, 2016, 12:01 PM EDT) -- HOOD RIVER, Ore. — Voters in an Oregon county on May 17 approved a county charter change that prohibits commercial water bottling, a measure that directly affects plans by Nestle Waters North America Inc. to bottle water from Oxbow Springs in the Cascade Locks area along the Columbia River.

Hood County posted election results showing 5,524 votes in favor of the charter change and 2,505 opposed. Measure 14-55 was approved by 68.8 percent of the vote.
