Mealey's (November 16, 2021, 12:54 PM EST) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — Maine health care workers — who allege that the COVID-19 vaccine mandate without religious exemptions for health care workers violates their religious beliefs but were unsuccessful with two applications to the U.S. Supreme Court for injunctive relief — filed a petition for a writ of certiorari with the high court on Nov. 11 asking whether the Maine governor’s order violates the free exercise clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and is preempted by Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and whether Article III of the U.S. Constitution courts may grant the preliminary injunctive relief they seek....
