Mealey's (March 2, 2016, 12:14 PM EST) -- SAN FRANCISCO — A California federal judge on Feb. 19 found that a commercial liability insurer has a duty to defend its analytics software provider insured against an underlying lawsuit because the underlying allegations give rise to a potentially covered claim for libel or slander (MedeAnalytics Inc. v. Federal Insurance Co., No. 15-04101, N.D. Calif.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 21377).
