Mealey's (July 23, 2020, 1:45 PM EDT) -- OAKLAND, Calif. — Consumers suing Ghirardelli Chocolate Co. for violating California's unfair competition law (UCL), false advertising law (FAL) and Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA) with the labeling for its "Premium Baking Chips Classic White Chips" failed in an amended complaint to allege that a reasonable consumer would take "white chips" to mean white chocolate chips, a federal judge in California ruled July 17, dismissing the case for a second time, this time with prejudice (Linda Cheslow, et al. v. Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, No. 19-7467, N.D. Calif., 2020 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 127400)....
