Florida Appeals Court Affirms Refusal To Dismiss Claims Against School Deputy

(December 20, 2019, 9:50 AM EST) -- WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A Florida appeals court on Dec. 18 affirmed a trial court’s refusal to dismiss parents’ claims against a county deputy accused of remaining outside the school while a former student shot and killed 17 students and school staff members in Parkland, Fla.  Based on his alleged actions, the deputy may not be immune from suit, the appeals court concluded (Scot Peterson v.
