New Statute Provides For Same-Sex Marriages In Tlingit, Haida Tribes

Mealey's (June 16, 2015, 4:26 PM EDT) -- JUNEAU, Alaska — By a unanimous vote on Feb. 20, the Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska’s (Central Council) Executive Council adopted a new tribal statute authorizing the Tribal Court to conduct marriage ceremonies, divorce proceedings and establish custody arrangements, according to a press release issued by the tribe.
