6th Circuit Says No Abuse Of Discretion In Partial Award Of Attorney Fees

Mealey's (October 30, 2015, 9:38 AM EDT) -- CINCINNATI — A district court did not abuse its discretion in awarding a plaintiff partial attorney fees and denying an award of penalties because the district court has the discretion to award fees and penalties as it sees fit, the Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals said Oct. 9 (Tamara Ciaramitaro v. Unum Life Insurance Company of America, No. 14-1248, 6th Cir.; 2015 U.S. App. LEXIS 17918).
