Class Suit Claims New Fingerprint Requirements Are Delaying Reuniting Families

(November 9, 2018, 12:39 PM EST) -- NEW YORK — A decision by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), the federal agency responsible for immigrant children in the custody of the government, to begin requiring fingerprint checks of parents and household members starting in June 2018 is adding weeks and sometimes months to the length of time it takes to reunite families, a class complaint filed Nov. 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York alleges (Norma Duchitanga, et al. v.
