U.S. Senate Begins Considering ACA Large-Employer Definition Bill

(September 30, 2015, 2:12 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. House of Representatives on Sept. 28 passed on a voice vote a bill aimed at giving states the ability to treat employers with fewer than 100 employees as small employers under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA).

A Sept. 15 Congressional Budget Office analysis concluded that the measure would likely reduce premiums in the near term by allowing more employers to offer plans that do not meet the current standards for large employers.
