Law Exempts Veterans, Military Benefit Recipients From Large-Employer Mandate

(September 29, 2015, 11:44 AM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Barack Obama on July 31 signed a federal highway bill containing amendments to how the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) handles the calculation of veterans for purposes of the large-employer mandate.

The bill, titled the Surface Transportation and Veterans Health Care Choice Improvement Act of 2015, seeks to modify and consolidate Department of Veterans Affairs programs in an effort to improve access to care.

The law also temporarily authorizes funds for certain programs.
