Insureds: Coverage Reinstated By Biggert-Waters Act

LOUIS — Property owners seeking insurance coverage for homes destroyed by Missouri River flooding told the Eighth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals recently that the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act passed by Congress in 2012 reinstates their flood insurance eligibility, while an insurer argues that the federal act does not reinstate coverage for a canceled flood insurance policy (Lyle & Alice Hodde, et al. v. American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida, No. 15-1081, 8th Cir.).
