IRS Now Says More Than 300,000 Taxpayers Potentially Affected By Data Breach

Mealey's (August 18, 2015, 10:38 AM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — Amending a statement it made in May about a data-breach incident involving the “Get Transcript” feature on its website, the Internal Revenue Service on Aug. 17 said that a further investigation of the incident revealed that more than 300,000 U.S. taxpayers may have had their personal information compromised (IRS Statement on the ‘Get Transcript’ Application, IRS).
