D.C. Circuit Denies Rehearing In Government’s RICO Suit Against Tobacco Industry

Mealey's (August 5, 2015, 12:46 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The District of Columbia Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on Aug. 5 denied a petition by the federal government for rehearing for purposes of clarifying its ruling modifying a consent order requiring corrective statements by the three major tobacco companies, finding that the government’s concerns can be addressed on remand to the trial court (United States v. Philip Morris USA Inc., et al., Nos. 13-5028 and 14-5161, D.C. Cir.; 2015 U.S. App. LEXIS 8469).
