U.S. Supreme Court Won’t Consider Water Rights On Federal Lands

Mealey's (October 21, 2016, 8:29 AM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Supreme Court on Oct. 17 denied a writ of certiorari in a case involving a ranch's water rights and grazing permits on nearby federal lands (Estate of E. Wayne Hage, et al. v. United States, No. 15-1295, U.S. Sup.).

The estate of E. Wayne Hage argued that the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals erred in its January 2016 ruling that the estate must obtain permits to graze cattle on federal land.
