United States Gets Judgment In Tribal Water Lawsuit By Crow Tribe Allottees

Mealey's (July 15, 2015, 12:56 PM EDT) -- BILLINGS, Mont. — A Montana federal judge on June 30 said the United States has not waived its sovereign immunity and granted judgment in a lawsuit in which certain members of the Crow Tribe of Native Americans sought to force the federal government to provide them with independent representation in a water settlement (Crow Allottees Association, et al. v. United States Bureau of Indian Affairs, No. 14-62, D. Mont., Billings Div.; 2015 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 85207).
