Landowner: U.S. Government Violated Law When It Approved Fracking Leases

(September 12, 2016, 8:28 AM EDT) -- TULSA, Okla. — The trustee of an irrevocable trust on Aug. 12 filed a lawsuit in Oklahoma federal court, contending that the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) violated federal law when it approved a blanket lease for hydraulic fracturing on land owned by the trust (Lyman Gilbert Lenker, Trustee of the Virginia Lenker Irrevocable Trust v. Sally Jewell, et al., No. 16-cv-532, N.D. Okla.).
