Judge Refuses To Dismiss Tribe’s Claim For Relief Against Corps Of Engineers

Mealey's (September 1, 2016, 2:44 PM EDT) -- TULSA, Okla. — A Native American tribe can still pursue an injunction enjoining the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from denying the tribe permits to hold religious ceremonies at a Corps lake, even though the Corps changed course after being sued and issued two permits to the tribe, an Oklahoma federal judge ruled Aug. 31 (The Cherokee Nation West v. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, et al., No. 14-cv-612, N.D. Okla.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 117241).
