Mississippi Supreme Court Affirms Immunity For Visitor Bureau In Injury Lawsuit

(August 22, 2016, 1:20 PM EDT) -- JACKSON, Miss. — A majority of the Mississippi Supreme Court ruled Aug. 11 that a trial court properly granted a county convention and visitors bureau summary judgment in a visitor’s action alleging that the bureau failed to maintain a civic center’s grassy area in a safe condition because the bureau’s operation of the civic center was a discretionary function to which immunity attached under the Mississippi Tort Claims Act (Cynthia Renee Crider v.
