Judge Dismisses Action Of Disenrolled Tribal Members Seeking Trust Money

Mealey's (July 29, 2016, 1:20 PM EDT) -- LAKE CHARLES, La. — Ten disenrolled members of a Native American tribe cannot pursue claims that a trustee violated federal and state law when it failed to distribute the assets of children’s trusts to them because they fail to state a cause of action under federal law, a Louisiana federal judge held July 27 (Cara Marie Rash, et al. v. JD Bank (f/d/b/a Jeff Davis Bank Trust Co., No. 2:15-cv-2748, W.D. La.; 2016 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 98676).
