2 Tribes Seek Permission To File Separate Pleadings In Dakota Pipeline Case

Mealey's (October 4, 2016, 1:43 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two Native American tribes on Sept. 30 filed a joint brief in federal court in the District of Columbia arguing that they should be permitted to file separate pleadings in the ongoing dispute over construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAP) because a single joint pleading “risks prejudice because there is not complete agreement regarding aspects of certain claims, and because a joint pleading would be incompatible with their status as sovereign nations” (Standing Rock Sioux Tribe v.
