Judge Stays Oil Company’s PFAS Case Pending Transfer To MDL For AFFF Litigation

Mealey's (March 21, 2022, 1:45 PM EDT) -- DETROIT — A federal judge in Michigan on March 17 stayed a lawsuit brought by the operator of an oil refinery for groundwater contamination from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the firefighting agent known as aqueous film forming foam (AFFF), which it uses to douse chemical fires at its facility.  The judge stayed the matter pending a decision by the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPMDL) regarding a possible transfer of the litigation to the MDL for AFFF products....
