Federal Judge Keeps Record Sealed In Dispute With Tribe Over 3 Orphaned Girls

Mealey's (August 30, 2017, 9:11 AM EDT) -- SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A California federal judge on Aug. 28 allowed limited access to documents sealed in a tribal court child custody dispute to be used in a state court action filed by relatives of the three young girls involved in the dispute but declined to unseal the entire record out of concerns for the privacy of the children, who say they were abused by another relative after the tribal court took over guardianship of the girls (Efrim Renteria, et al. v.
