Mealey's (March 28, 2018, 11:38 AM EDT) -- LOS ANGELES — A California federal judge on March 27 granted a motion filed by a loan servicer and lender to dismiss a borrower’s claims for violation of California’s unfair competition law (UCL) and other causes of action with leave to amend and refused to remand her complaint to state court based on the amount-in-controversy requirement (Maria Ortega v. Select Portfolio Servicing Inc., et al., No. 17-7707, C.D. Calif., 2018 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 50836)....
