Government: Federal Court Lacks Jurisdiction In Exchange-Funding Tax Dispute

Mealey's (June 24, 2015, 2:02 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — A legislatively mandated assessment on insurers supports the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) exchange and benefits the District of Columbia generally, making it a tax subject only to local review, the government told a federal appeals court on June 10 (American Council of Life Insurers v. District of Columbia Health Benefits Exchange Authority, et al., No. 14-7206, D.C. Cir.).
