Family Of Olympic Winner Jim Thorpe Seeks Removal Of Remains To Native Land

Mealey's (June 24, 2015, 10:55 AM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a petition for writ of certiorari, the surviving sons of legendary athlete Jim Thorpe asked the U.S. Supreme Court on June 2 to overturn an appeals court decision and allow them to pursue the reburial of their father on Sac and Fox Nation of Oklahoma Indian grounds in Thorpe’s native Oklahoma (Sac and Fox Nation of Oklahoma, et al. v. Borough of Jim Thorpe, et al., No. 14-1419, U.S. Sup.).
