Kansas High Court Suspends Attorney For Seeking Money To Drop Mineral Rights Case

(June 13, 2016, 10:42 AM EDT) -- TOPEKA, Kan. — The Kansas Supreme Court on June 10 indefinitely suspended an attorney who, in the process of representing landowners in a mineral rights dispute with a hydraulic fracturing company, sought $1.9 million from the company in exchange for a commitment to drop the lawsuit and destroy all evidence (In the Matter of Kerry Dale Holyoak, No. 114,836, Kan. Sup.; 2016 Kan. LEXIS 307).
