Settlement In Oil Lease Dispute Approved Pending Environmental Impact Study

Mealey's (June 18, 2015, 3:07 PM EDT) -- SAN JOSE, Calif. — A federal magistrate judge in California on July 17, 2014, issued an order staying a lawsuit environmental watchdog groups filed against the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) pending the completion of an environmental impact study (EIS) regarding the BLM’s decision to sell four oil and natural gas leases of federal land in Monterey and Fresno counties for the purpose of hydraulic fracturing (Center for Biological Diversity, et al. v. Bureau of Land Management, et al., No. 11-6174, N.D. Calif.).
