High Court Denies Cert In Dispute Over Indian Inmates’ Hair Length In Alabama

Mealey's (May 2, 2016, 10:20 AM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Supreme Court on May 2 declined to review a decision by the 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, issued on an earlier remand from the high court, rejecting claims by Native American prison inmates in Alabama that the state’s grooming policy for prisoners violates their rights under the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000 (RLUIPA) (Ricky Knight, et al. v. Leslie Thompson, et al., No. 15-999, U.S. Sup.).
