Tribal Amici Urge High Court To Vacate Ruling Extending NLRA To Tribe’s Casino

(April 27, 2016, 1:55 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — Tribal casinos are beyond the reach of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) because gaming on reservations is a tribal government enterprise that is essential to tribes’ self-determination and economic development, two organizations representing hundreds of Indian tribes told the U.S. Supreme Court March 17 in an amicus curiae brief (Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort v. National Labor Relations Board, No. 15-1034, U.S. Sup.; 2016 U.S. S. Ct. Briefs LEXIS 1292).
