Plaintiff Names 3 Defendants, Can’t ID Whose Component Failed, Judge Says

(April 20, 2016, 12:54 PM EDT) -- CHICAGO — A complaint against three orthopedic device makers was dismissed without prejudice April 11 because the plaintiff did not identify which manufacturer made a component that broke and is still inside her ankle (Latrissa Weddle v. Smith & Nephew, Inc., et al., No. 14-9549, N.D. Ill., E. Div.; 2016 U.S. Lexis 48512).

In 2012, Latrissa Weddle suffered a pilon fracture of her right ankle. She underwent three surgeries during which surgeons implanted orthopedic devices made by various manufacturers.
