6th Circuit: False Claims Act Case Fails, Plaintiffs Not An ‘Original Source’

(April 11, 2016, 9:28 AM EDT) -- CINCINNATI — A panel of the Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals on March 14 ruled that a borrower’s false claims act lawsuit failed on grounds that the lender’s allegedly false actions were publicly disclosed prior to filing of the lawsuit, and the plaintiff bringing the action was not an “original source” with regard to the loan in question (United States of America ex rel Advocates for Basic Legal Equity Inc. v.
