California Agency: Fracking Companies Must Close 12 Underground Injection Wells

Mealey's (June 18, 2015, 9:22 AM EDT) -- SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A regulatory agency in the State of California on March 3 announced that it had ordered the closure of 12 underground injection wells used by hydraulic fracturing companies. The California Division of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources (DOGGR) said the wells needed to be closed to protect groundwater aquifers.
