Louisiana Panel Affirms Judgment For Store In Slip, Fall Suit

(March 8, 2016, 8:38 AM EST) -- BATON ROUGE, La. — A Louisiana appellate panel on Feb. 26 affirmed summary judgment dismissal of a slip-and-fall suit against a grocery store, finding that the store patron failed to produce evidence that he could carry his burden of proof at trial under the state’s Merchant Liability Statute (John Nash v. Rouse’s Enterprises, LLC d/b/a/ Rouse’s Markets, and XYZ Insurance Company, No. 2015 CA 1101, La. App., 1st Cir.; 2016 La. App. LEXIS 376).
