Mealey's (June 24, 2021, 11:54 AM EDT) -- PASADENA, Calif. — A Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals panel on June 22 denied a motion to amend its June 1 opinion reversing final approval of a class settlement in a cooking oil labeling suit after applying the heightened inquiry identified in In re Bluetooth Headset Products Liability Litigation, calling the case “‘How to Lose a Class Action Settlement in 10 Ways,’” and opining that the agreement that provided the attorneys more than seven times the total class payment contained “a bevy of questionable provisions that reeks of collusion at the expense of the class members.”...
