Rio Grande Parties Oppose Intervention By New Mexico Irrigation District

Mealey's (June 17, 2015, 12:57 PM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — Parties to the Rio Grande River water dispute pending before in the U.S. Supreme Court last month opposed a motion by a New Mexico irrigation district to intervene in the case (State of Texas v. State of New Mexico, et al., No. 141, Orig., U.S. Sup.).

In the underlying case Texas sued New Mexico and Colorado in the U.S. Supreme Court alleging the defendants are violating the terms of the 1938 Rio Grande Compact for the equitable distribution and apportionment of river water....
