United States Responds To Request For Class Certification In MR-GO Dispute

Mealey's (February 10, 2016, 11:01 AM EST) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. government on Feb. 8 responded to the plaintiffs’ supplemental brief seeking class certification in their lawsuit alleging that the U.S. government has taken their property without just compensation through the flooding resulting from the Army Corps of Engineers’ creation, construction, operation and maintenance of the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet (MR-GO), arguing that the plaintiffs’ claims “are driven by property-specific considerations that are not amenable to mass resolution” (St. Bernard Parish Government v. The United States, No. 05-1119, Fed. Clms.).
