Indian Tribe, Affiliates Argue To Federal Court Its Marks Are Not Generic

Mealey's (June 17, 2015, 10:44 AM EDT) -- ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Navajo Nation and its affiliates on May 14 moved in a New Mexico federal court for summary judgment on its trademark infringement claim against a company it says wrongly manufacturers and sells jewelry, clothing and accessories using the Navajo name after previously seeking summary judgment on May 8 against the defendant for the defendant’s counterclaims and affirmative defenses (The Navajo Nation, a sovereign Indian Nation v. Urban Outfitters Inc., et al., No. 12-00195, D. N.M.).
