Tribe Appeals Decision Dismissing Suit Seeking Official Recognition

Mealey's (June 17, 2015, 10:37 AM EDT) -- WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Mackinac Tribe on April 27 filed a notice of appeal, stating its intent to appeal to the District of Columbia Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals a lower court’s decision dismissing its suit seeking to obtain the legal status of a recognized Indian tribe (Mackinac Tribe v. Sally Jewell, No. 15-5118, D.C. Cir.).
