Court At The Hague Rules Ecuador’s Lago Agrio Claims Fail To ‘Hit Their Mark’

Mealey's (February 1, 2016, 11:07 AM EST) -- THE HAGUE, Netherlands — The District Court of The Hague on Jan. 20 denied claims made by the Republic of Ecuador, which had asked the International Criminal Court (ICC) to open an investigation against Chevron Corp. for crimes against humanity related to the company's “inhumane” actions “to ensure that it will never have to pay a cent to affected peoples” with regard to Chevron’s oil operations in the Lago Agrio region of the country.
