Medical Group Sues Health Insurer For $9.4M For Denying Claims For COVID-19 Testing

Mealey's (November 12, 2020, 4:44 PM EST) -- NEW HAVEN, Conn. — A group of medical providers filed suit on Nov. 6 in Connecticut federal court against Cigna Health and Life Insurance Co. and Connecticut General Life Insurance Co. (collectively, Cigna), alleging that the insurers’ failure to reimburse them for COVID-19 testing violates the Employment Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and other federal and state statutes. The medical providers also allege defamation and tortious interference with their relationships with their patients (Murphy Medical Associates, LLC, et al. v.
