Convictions, Sentences In Mother-Son Mortgage Fraud Scheme Upheld By 11th Circuit

Mealey's (August 4, 2020, 12:30 PM EDT) -- ATLANTA — An 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals panel on July 31 affirmed the convictions and sentences for a mother and son who were convicted of bank and wire fraud for their roles in a mortgage fraud scheme that took place from 2005 through 2007, finding that the evidence sufficiently showed that a financial institution was affected by the scheme and that the defendants intended to defraud the institution (United States v.
