Challengers To Election Of Native Hawaiians Say Injunction Requirements Met

(January 12, 2016, 1:07 PM EST) -- SAN FRANCISCO — Six challengers to an election of delegates for a self-governance convention of Native Hawaiians are “overwhelmingly likely” to succeed on the merits of their claim that the election process is unconstitutional, so their request for an injunction to halt the election should be granted, the challengers tell the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in a Jan. 6 brief (Keli’i Akina, et al., v. State of Hawaii, et al., No. 15-17134, 9th Cir.).
